Gabriele Massaro

His research is a reading of the depth of painting: depth understood both as the tangible fact of pictorial layering and of painting’s placement in space, and as an interpretive and imaginative possibility of reality. The result is a body of work that expresses analytical reasoning but is also the simulacrum of a veiled, subtle meaning, barely evoked.
He studied Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts of Palermo. Alongside his painting, he devoted himself for several years to ceramic decoration. In 2020 he won the competition for the regeneration of Fiumara d’Arte, the open-air museum of contemporary art. In 2021, together with Enzo Calò and Davide Mineo, he founded the independent exhibition space La Siringe in Palermo. He currently lives and works between Palermo and Como.
