Dorotea Tocco’s works take shape through the aberrant, with a way of thinking that departs from common morality. Her subjects are mainly women investigating their own femininity; no longer presented as objects of the painterly gaze, as scenery, they are enunciated afresh. These inappropriate bodies convey a will to profound self-determination against the preconceptions that guide society and the masses, in an attempt to conquer their own dimension through kinky practices, filth and excess.

The domestic environment becomes a theatrical setting that stages the cruelty of bodies free of any canonisation. Environments where gender, individuality and conforming roles are razed to the ground in an attempt to lay the foundations for a new hybrid identity: autonomous, disobedient, rebellious bodies, against every social and aesthetic norm.
