Martina Pozzobon

Her work develops through drawing and painting. In drawing she is interested in developing all the mark-making potential specific to the technique. The scenes she draws are products of her imagination; the subjects are the most diverse and come from observing people, from dreams, cinema and art history. She creates surreal and tragicomic scenes, with an interest in the body, the unconscious and the grotesque.
She uses a practice typical of children to address complex themes, trying to show the absurdity of life and the many facets along the path that connects good and evil.
Much of her research is grounded in reading authors such as Samuel Beckett, Franz Kafka and Edgar Allan Poe. She works out of an inner necessity, to express what she feels, and her practice allows her to know the most hidden and deepest parts of herself.
